Called to serve: Why a believer should join a ministry

Joining a ministry should be a person’s loving response to God. Contrary to popular belief, a ministry is not always confined to serving inside the church. There are many types of ministries and in the course of his life a believer will find a place where his services, talents, skills, and resources will be valuable. Here are some of the reasons a believer should join a ministry:

It is a manifestation of faith “Faith without deeds is dead.” Believing in Jesus is not the end of a person’s purpose on earth. It is the beginning. To live out that purpose and show the value of his faith, it is only fitting for a believer to give his life in service of God and the church. Joining a ministry is one of the platforms where one can profess faith. In reality, being in the ministry is not always easy but being in one will stretch a person’s trust and belief in God along with fellow servants.

It allows a person to grow in the knowledge of God Ministry work, when done out of love and devotion for God can bring a person closer to Him. Being in the ministry requires a person to study the Word and to build up skills to serve the church with excellence. As a ministry member grows in service, hopefully he will also grow in his relationship with God.

The church always needs workers In the gospels, Jesus said that the harvest is plenty but the laborers are few. This is true even to this day. The church is always in need of people who will care for others and who will do the work that will proclaim God’s goodness to the world. There are different places where are person can render service. Sometimes, a person can be involved in multiple ministries that widen his services to others.

Being part of the ministry doesn’t need to be a burden. Those who contributed their minds, skills, talents, and resources have discovered the fulfillment that comes with living a life with a purpose that enriches God’s community.
